Saudi Arabia GO's for WiMAX

 Permanent link

 GO Telecom

The latest entrant to the Saudi Arabian telecom market is Etihad Atheeb Telecommunications Company, trading as GO Telecom, boasting the Kingdom's first WiMAX service dressed up in the best branding we've seen in a long time.  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is of course the largest and most populace of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and with over more that 60% of it's 27 million population under the age of 30, it makes for one of the most interesting and exciting markets too.

GO Telecom has already launched 4G Mobile Broadband and is now inviting customers to pre-book the telephone numbers they want.  Standard numbers cost SAR 25 - about 80p.  Reserving a ‘Bronze’ numbers costs SAR 1380 (that’s £220) and stretches Platinums go for a whopping SAR 5380.  If you’re going to spend nearly £900 on a number, we suggest you choose carefully.
